Brawn Lands application

Overview

In August 2017, the City received a development proposal (LOC2017-0188) for 1127 85th St. S.W., 1166 Wentworth View S.W. and 8888 12th Ave S.W. in the community of West Springs. The combined outline plan and land use redesignation application proposes an outline for the future subdivision and development of 13.53 hectares of land. The proposal would also require a mapping amendment to the West Springs Area Structure Plan (ASP) to allow for a change from Low Density Infill to Mixed Use.

Specifically, the applicant is proposing:

  • Low-density residential R-1 and R-2 lots near Wentwillow Lane S.W.
  • multi-residential (M-H1) lots near 12th Ave S.W.
  • commercial mixed use (C-COR2/MU-1/MU-2) lots near 85th St. S.W.
  • environmental reserve, open space and pathway connections between the uses.

Please view these City of Calgary boards from the June 20, 2018 developer-led information session for more details on The City’s application review process. The City of Calgary collected comments on the proposed application at a developer-led open house on June 20, 2018 and online from June 20 to July 4, 2018, however no comments were received.​

Date: Q4 2017 Event: Applicant and Community Planning met with various community stakeholders to discuss the initial land use and outline plan proposal and receive input on the proposed land uses and road network.
Date: December 2017 Event: City-led West Springs Open Houses to present large-scale ASP amendment and active applications in the area. Developers and City staff were on hand to gather feedback from the community.
Date: Q1-Q2 2018 Event: Applicant has met with local community association and condo groups in response to feedback received on the initial application in 2017.
Date: June 2018 Event: Applicant-led information session.

City staff available to answer questions about the planning process. Input collected in person and online to help inform The City’s technical review.
