26th Avenue SW MAX Yellow BRT Station Upgrades
Project overview
The City is upgrading the southbound and northbound 26 Avenue & Crowchild Tr SW stations to MAX Yellow BRT standards and relocating the southbound transit station to the south side of 26 Avenue SW. The project also proposes to add a transit plaza next to the southbound station to improve safety and accessibility.
This project aligns with the objectives of the TOD Program to support transit-oriented development across the city and to invest in public improvements that benefit current and future residents and businesses. The project is funded by The City’s Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Program, along with voluntary contributions related to local developments by Minto and Unitii.
Upgrades are being delivered as part of 26 Avenue S.W. Visit the project page for more information and construction updates.

1. Why are transit improvements happening in this area specifically?
Currently, the bus stops at 26 Avenue and Crowchild Trail SW do not include standard MAX BRT features. The investment will enhance the safety and accessibility of rapid transit for current residents and the additional residents that will move to the area in the coming years as redevelopment happens in the immediate area.
Additionally, the proposed project aligns well with the objective of the TOD Program to support and encourage TOD across the city through public improvement investments as well as with policy in the Westbrook Communities Local Area Plan that triggers BRT improvements with redevelopment of the former Viscount Bennett School site.
2. What is included in the project?
The project includes upgrading the southbound and northbound 26 Avenue & Crowchild Tr SW stations to MAX Yellow BRT standards and adding a transit plaza next to the southbound station. The station improvements include raised platforms, standard MAX BRT shelters (heated), real-time displays, and improved lighting. Features included in the transit plaza will be determined later in the detailed design process.
3. What is the completion date?
Construction of the northbound station is expected to begin in 2027. The southbound station would be built at a later date. Timing for the transit plaza will be confirmed once funding is approved.
