What is the My Travel Log Survey?
We want to hear about your travel habits. How do you travel? For how long? We want to understand Calgarians' day-to-day travel habits throughout the city, as this provides vital information for our future transportation investments.
By taking part in this study, you will help us understand how roads, public transportation, bike lanes, and sidewalks are used today, and how they can be improved on in the future. Even if you don’t travel often on a day-to-day basis, this is important information for us to know. Follow the instructions below and sign up today!
Only a limited number of households have been invited to participate in the survey, so your participation ensures that households like yours are represented in our transportation plans.

What is this survey about?
We want to hear about your daily transportation habits: Why do you travel? How far do you go? How much does it cost? Our goal is to get a complete picture of transportation patterns to better plan for future improvements in your community.
Why should I participate?
Your participation ensures that households like yours are fully represented in our transportation plans (the cash incentive at the end helps to!).
What if I don’t travel much?
Any amount of travel (including not travelling at all) will help us improve transportation planning. Don’t forget that those short trips, like walking the dog or running to the corner store, count too!
What if my transportation habits during the survey aren’t my “typical” habits?
That’s no problem! We still encourage you to participate. We’ll ask about how your travel habits have changed over the past year and how you think you’ll travel in the future.
How was I selected to participate?
Households in Calgary were selected at random.
I was asked to use the survey smartphone app rMove. How does that work?
rMove collects travel and trip information from invited participants. Those who use the rMove app should keep their phones with them any time they travel during the survey period.
How much time does it take to participate?
It takes about 10 minutes to begin and determine the next steps. Households that complete the study through the rMove app will take about 5 minutes per day for 7 days to report their travel. Those that complete that study online or by phone will take about 10 minutes to report their travel for one day.
What do I get for participating?
You’ll receive a cheque once all members of your household have reported their travel and completed their individual surveys.
