37 Street Stormwater Trunk Project
About the project
To prepare for construction of the South West Calgary Ring Road project, Alberta Transportation requested that the City of Calgary relocate an existing storm trunk that crosses Tsuut’ina First Nation.
In addition to relocating infrastructure, The City was able to enhance the stormwater quality discharging to the Glenmore Reservoir by adding an oil-grit separator to provide removal of sediment and associated nutrients from the stormwater.
Construction in North Glenmore Park is now completed. There may be periodic activity for maintenance of infrastructure, newly planted trees and vegetation as well as a couple of finishing touches. The improvements in the park included:
- Planting of over 2200 new trees and 4000 new shrubs.
- Renovation of the Blue Heron picnic site.
- Water infrastructure to enable installation of future water fountains in the park.
- Water and sanitary infrastructure to enable future connections to the washroom building which will then be used throughout the year in all 4 seasons.
