The City of Calgary is completing a river bank stabilization project along Nose Creek, east of the TELUS Spark building. The project is anticipated to begin in late October and continue for approximately three months.

Excavation and River Bank Stabilization

Once excavation of the river bank is complete, we will install a bioengineering stabilization solution along the bank. This solution uses wooden logs, sandstone slabs and live plants to protect the river from erosion. This work will improve safety for the pathway users, increase natural vegetation, enhance the general aesthetics of the area and improve fish habitat for this portion of Nose Creek.

Project update - December 2020

The City of Calgary continues to provide high-quality services to Calgarians during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fall construction is now complete on the Nose Creek Stabilization project.

Fencing and equipment have been removed from the site and the pathway is now open to the public. The contractor will return in the spring to finish the landscaping in the area. This includes laying down topsoil and seed on the coconut matting and on the exposed areas where the pathway used to be. Additional shrubs and willows will be planted on the bank and above the crib wall in the spring as well.
