BTIPP - Move, close or sell a business
What happens to BTIPP when I move my business?
Notify the Planning Services Centre (see Business Changes) prior to moving. This allows us to make adjustments to your Business Improvement Area (BIA) tax levy and your BTIPP participation for the current year resulting from the move.
What happens to BTIPP when I close or sell my business?
You should cancel your BTIPP participation. We must receive written notice no later than the 22nd of the month prior to the next scheduled withdrawal in order to ensure your bank account is not debited for the instalment amount. Cancellation requests received after the 22nd of the month will be processed after the upcoming withdrawal. If you have missed the 22nd of the month for cancellation, your bank account will be debited for the next instalment.
If your adjusted tax results in a credit balance, contact Tax to request a refund. Any unpaid BIA tax remaining after adjustment are due and subject to penalties in accordance with the Business Improvement Area (BIA) Tax Bylaw. To request the balance owing, contact Tax.
