Social Programs

Services in communities to support, protect and enrich Calgarians' lives

Back to Our Services

Service description

Social Programs create equal access to programs and services for all Calgarians. We create and manage social recreational programming for children and youth, career planning and employment support for youth, youth justice services and seniors’ home maintenance services.

We run the Fair Entry Program and fund preventive social services delivered by non-profit partners. Social Programs provide you with the support you need to thrive.

What we heard

You believe that social programs are important, should have similar or more investment and are satisfied with the service of Social Programs. Fair Entry users say they’ve benefited from improved access to existing City services. We can improve by filling in service gaps such as post-programming support in youth justice programs.

Council direction

Social Programs (with our partners) continue to provide equitable access to services for all Calgarians. We are directed to contribute to safe and inspiring neighbourhoods by providing vulnerable Calgarians programs and services where they live.

We offer social recreational opportunities that support healthy lifestyles and increase social inclusion, and support the process of Truth and Reconciliation by working with the Indigenous community to develop programs and services that meet the needs of Indigenous Calgarians.
