Prequalification for engineering and architectural services
Engineering and architectural firms must be prequalified in order to bid on City opportunities for most engineering and architectural services.
How to become prequalified
Engineering and architectural firms interested in becoming prequalified must respond to The City’s Services 06-006 Request for Prequalification for Engineering and Architectural Consultants. Categories of engineering and architectural services that require prequalification are specified in the prequalification document.
Include discipline-specific information in the project work examples requested in Schedule A9, detailing if your firm was the prime or a sub-consultant, and the role the listed discipline-specific personnel played.
Note: all companies working for The City must have a permit to practice in Alberta and $5 million commercial general liability and $2 million professional liability insurance (errors and omissions). For each discipline, the firm must have a registered professional of record (e.g. engineer, architect or interior designer) able to stamp documents in the province of Alberta.
Notification of opportunities
Notices of opportunities are posted on Alberta Purchasing Connection (APC) and documents are posted on MERX Calgary. Only vendors prequalified under Services 06-006 Request for Prequalification for Engineering and Architectural Consultants will have access to the bid documents for discipline specific services.
