What you’ll do here

As Calgary grows and evolves, your work will directly influence how our city looks, feels, and functions. You’ll help turn visionary ideas into real-world outcomes that respect community character, support economic vitality, and promote environmental resilience. Join us to:

  • Support transformative projects like the revitalization of Calgary’s downtown. We’ll do this by helping increase residential homes and vibrant public spaces, reimagining Chinatown, and undertaking other innovative urban initiatives that are reshaping Calgary’s identity.
  • Craft land use policies that guide smart, sustainable development across diverse communities.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to ensure growth meets the needs of residents, businesses, and future generations. Work with communities and business areas to identify public realm improvements in their neighbourhoods that help respond to growth and change, seeking funding for the projects, and enabling their construction.
  • Set the stage for development by defining clear, effective processes and standards.
  • Support local businesses by enabling them to open and thrive in well-planned spaces.
  • Ensure safety and quality in the built environment through thoughtful regulation and review.
  • Work to protect and recognize Calgary’s history through heritage planning.
  • Research and identify strategies and actions to improve Calgary’s resiliency to climate change, and conduct related educational programs for Calgarians.
