Temporary Employment Services Agency (TESA)
The Temporary Employment Services Agency (TESA) is an auxiliary operation of The City of Calgary that maintains a complement of staff to provide short-term temporary clerical/administrative support within the organization. Work assignments may arise due to illness, vacation, work backlogs, seasonal spikes in work, delays associated with job postings, or other reasons that generate a demand for short-term employees.
Applications are only accepted when postings are available. All open postings will be advertised on The City careers page at www.calgary.ca/careers. Once you have applied, and are successful, a process of testing and interviewing will take place. Only successful applicants will be notified.
The majority of assignments are in the administrative, secretarial, customer service, clerical, reception, financial, accounting, records management and legal administrative fields. Occasionally assignments in other areas become available too.
Assignments can vary in length from one day up to three months.
The City of Calgary has many locations that TESA employees provide support to. Most locations are accessible using Calgary Transit. All transportation and parking costs are the responsibility of the TESA employee.
Hours range from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with most shifts being 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required depending on the assignment.
In most cases, you will not be required to work on statutory holidays, though some assignments may require it. TESA employees may also be eligible for statutory pay for the following general holidays:
New Year's Day, Alberta Family Day, Good Friday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day, and Christmas Day.
TESA offers a competitive hourly wage - depending on the assignment. TESA employee pay is deposited automatically on a bi-weekly basis.
Canada Pension, Employment Insurance, income tax and any voluntary deductions.
No, TESA employees are only paid for hours worked.
