Celebrate Neighbour Day! Ten community events and counting this Saturday

This Saturday June 20th, Ward 2 is coming alive with community spirit. Residents across the ward are invited to take part in ten different events happening throughout the day, including several Neighbour Day celebrations and city-wide initiatives like All Sport One Day.

Please note: Rain is currently forecast for Saturday. Residents are encouraged to check with individual event organizers or community pages for the latest updates before attending, as some events may be impacted or cancelled due to weather.

Neighbour Day is Calgary’s annual celebration of community connection. It is a simple but meaningful opportunity to meet your neighbours, share a meal, enjoy local activities, and strengthen the relationships that make our communities resilient and welcoming. Whether it is a quick conversation, a block party, or a larger gathering, these small moments help build lasting connections.

The tradition began in 2014, following the devastating floods of 2013. In the face of that crisis, Calgarians came together to support one another in extraordinary ways. Neighbour Day was created to honour that spirit of care and resilience, and it has continued to grow each year through community-led events across the city.

In 2026, that momentum continues. The #YYCNeighbourDay microgrant program has supported 54 events city-wide, helping local organizers bring people together in meaningful and creative ways. Ward 2 is proud to be part of that energy, with a full lineup of gatherings that reflect the diversity and vibrancy of our communities.

Together, these events make for a full and exciting Saturday across Ward 2, with something for everyone to enjoy.
