Happy Canada Day Ward 2! As we kick off July, there’s plenty to celebrate across our community, including Stampede and a number of other great events happening throughout the month. This newsletter also includes local updates and ways to get involved in community life over the weeks ahead.

We have recently received an increase in reports and concerns from residents in Kincora regarding coyote activity in the area, including several encounters near pathways and ravines where coyotes are denned. While coyotes are a natural part of our urban environment, this recent activity has understandably caused concern for many families, walkers, and dog owners in the community.

As Calgary comes alive with the spirit of the Stampede once again, I want to wish everyone in Ward 2 a joyful and safe celebration. It is a true pleasure to take part in this longstanding tradition, which has brought our city together for over 100 years, celebrating western heritage, community pride, and shared experiences.

This Saturday, Ward 2 is coming alive with community spirit. Residents across the ward are invited to take part in nine different events happening throughout the day, including several Neighbour Day celebrations and city-wide initiatives like All Sport One Day.

Nolan Hill residents have raised concerns about green spaces this spring, as have residents in other communities. I've pushed for more funding and tighter service standards across the city, and while there has been progress on mowing and weed treatment in Nolan Hill, the City is still working to get the community to where it needs to be.

If you’ve ever witnessed a traffic issue in Calgary and weren’t sure who to contact, you’re not alone. We regularly hear from community members who want to do the right thing but don’t know where to start, whether it’s a serious collision, unsafe driving, or something as common as a parking violation.

As we welcome June, along with longer, warmer days and the beginning of summer, I wanted to share a few helpful reminders and resources that may be useful for you or your family. Along with this beautiful weather comes more celebrations, check out the upcoming community events below to welcome in the summer with your friends, family and neighbours.

Ward 2 is set for a busy construction and improvement season in 2026, with mobility projects focused on safer streets, better accessibility, and more reliable travel for residents.

A recent Facebook post from the Evanston Creekside community brought a serious safety concern to our attention: a youth riding a black e-motorcycle through a playground while children were present.

As we head into May, I wanted to share a few helpful reminders and resources that may be useful for you or your family. This month’s update includes information on Neighbour Day, and how to plan your summer garden using the tools available to you.

The City of Calgary’s annual Spring Clean up Program is set to begin next week, with residential community sweeping starting shortly after. This program plays an important role in keeping our streets clean, safe, and functioning properly after winter.
