Construction Update: Symons Valley Centre and Sage Hill Library
We're pleased to share that construction is progressing on the Symons Valley Centre, a long-awaited project that will bring much-needed recreation space and a vibrant community hub to Calgary’s northwest.
As of last week, the deep utility construction has officially begun. Work will take place in three short phases between now and the end of August (weather permitting), and some road closures in the area are expected.
Here’s what to expect:
- Phase 1A: A short-term closure of Sage Hill Gate NW (between Sage Hill Boulevard and 37th Street) during the last week of July.
- Phase 1B: No road closures — all work will remain within the construction site.
- Phase 1C: Sage Hill Link (between Sage Hill Boulevard and Sage Hill Drive) will be closed for most of August. A brief closure on Sage Hill Boulevard (between Sage Hill Gate and Sage Hill Road/Views) will also occur during this phase.
Detour plans and signage will be in place to help guide drivers through the area safely, and nearby residents and businesses have already received construction notices.
Below is a map depicting the expected work areas and closures.

We’re excited to see this important project moving forward — thank you to everyone who has helped get us to this stage. If you missed our last update, you can read more about the background and funding for the Symons Valley Centre here:
