North Calgary Water Servicing Project: What Residents Need to Know
I want to share an update on the North Calgary Water Servicing (NCWS) Project, a major piece of infrastructure work underway in northwest Calgary that is critical to supporting both existing communities and future growth.
This will expand and strengthen the reliability of our water system by adding capacity and redundancy, and help make sure Calgarians continue to have access to clean, safe drinking water for decades to come.
What is the project and why it matters
The North Calgary Water Servicing Project includes the construction of a new 22‑kilometre water feeder main, along with several supporting facilities such as pump stations, reservoir expansions, and connections to existing infrastructure.
Once complete, the new feeder main and facilities will deliver up to 100 million litres of drinking water per day to northwest Calgary, with long‑term capacity reaching approximately 410 million litres per day. This investment is essential to meeting the needs of growing communities while improving resilience across the entire water distribution system.
Where construction is happening
Construction began last fall near Country Hills Boulevard N.W. and Rocky Ridge Road N.W. Crews continue to install the feeder main along Rocky Ridge Road and eastward on the south side of 144 Avenue N.W.
The City has recently completed a section of pipe just east of the Shane Homes YMCA at Rocky Ridge and is continuing work on the first new facility at the Top Hill Reservoir in the same area.
The next major phase of work involves upgrades to the Mountain View Pump Station, located near Arbour Lake Road N.W. and 85 Street N.W. Construction crews will begin mobilizing equipment and materials to this site in late March, with work expected to continue through spring 2027.
Upcoming construction and information session
Construction along 144 Avenue N.W., between 69 Street N.W. and approximately Sage Hill Drive N.W., is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2026. To help residents and businesses prepare, the City is hosting an information session where the project team will share details on timelines, impacts, and answer questions.
Information session details:
- Location: Kenneth D. Taylor School
- Address: 30 Evanscove Circle N.W.
- Date: April 15, 2026
- Time: 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Postcards have been delivered to nearby homes to ensure residents are aware of this opportunity to learn more and connect directly with the project team.
What to expect during construction
As work progresses, residents and businesses in the area may notice:
- Increased noise during construction hours
- More heavy truck traffic
- Construction activity from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, with possible work on select weekends
The contractor will take steps to manage dust, and the City does not anticipate construction vibrations affecting private properties.
Staying informed
I know construction can be disruptive, and I appreciate the patience of residents and businesses as this important work moves forward. Projects of this scale are never easy, but they are necessary to keep our city functioning safely and reliably as Calgary continues to grow.
For the most up‑to‑date information, including construction maps and timelines, I encourage you to visit the City’s project page at:

As always, my office will continue to share updates and advocate for clear communication and mitigation where possible. If you have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
