Tips to Help Keep Your Home Safe
While police continue their investigation, here are some practical steps you can take:
- Secure rear access points: Lock all doors and windows, especially those facing greenspaces or pathways.
- Use lighting: Motion-activated lighting at the back of your home can deter opportunistic activity.
- Don’t advertise when you’re away: Avoid posting about travel plans publicly and consider holding deliveries if possible, or ask a neighbour to help collect your mail and packages.
- Use your security tools: Ensure cameras, alarms, and doorbell systems are functioning properly.
- Look out for each other: Report suspicious behaviour promptly and talk with neighbours about keeping an eye out, especially during daytime hours.
Community awareness plays a key role in preventing crime and supporting investigations. If you see something that doesn’t feel right, trust your instincts and report it. Staying alert and informed helps keep our neighbourhoods safe.
