Mindfulness Activity

Mindfulness Activity:

  • Think about what your energy level is right now, on a scale of 1 to 10.
  • In 60 seconds, see how much higher you can raise your energy by moving your body.
  • Now what is your energy level on a scale of 1 to 10?

Summer Olympics

Supplies:

  • Coloured Paper
  • Markers
  • Scissors
  • Pencil

The Olympic flag has a white background with five overlapping rings in the centre: blue, yellow, black, green and red. This design is symbolic. It represents the continents and flags of the world.

  • Cut out five different coloured rings. If you don’t have coloured paper, you can cut the rings out of any paper and use markers to colour them in.
  • Next, try some of the activities below to create your own Olympics (connect with friends online or the people you live with).

Water Bowling

Supplies:

  • Water bottles
  • Small rubber ball

For this activity, connect with one or more friends on a video chat like Skype, Zoom or Facetime.

The Olympics are summer and winter sports competitions. Athletes from around the world compete in different sports.

Water bowling is a game you can play at home with your family, or online with friends to bring back the spirit of the Olympics.

  • Fill plastic bottles with water.
  • Set them up outside on a flat surface (leave the lids off).
  • Try to knock over the bottles to spill all the water.
  • See who can knock down their own bottles and empty out the water. You can play until the bottles are empty or measure the amount of water left after an amount of time.

Standing Long Jump

Supplies:

  • Tape
  • Measuring tape

For this activity, connect with one or more friends on a video chat like Skype, Zoom or Facetime.

  • Cut five 12-inch long pieces of painter’s tape.
  • Put each piece on the ground parallel to each other, about 5 inches apart.
  • Stand behind the first piece of tape and try to jump to the first marker.
  • Measure how far you were able to jump.
  • Too easy? Move the pieces of tape so they are further apart and try to jump again.
  • See who can jump the furthest to be crowned winner!

Shot Ball

Supplies:

  • Bucket or cardboard box
  • Tennis ball/soccer ball/basketball

For this activity, connect with one or more friends on a video chat like Skype, Zoom or Facetime.

See who can get the most balls into the bucket or cardboard box. Make sure the balls you choose will fit into the bucket or box.

  • Line up your bucket at a distance you feel is a good challenge for you. You can push it further back if you want to make things harder.
  • Use a marker to make your starting line.
  • Take 3 tries to throw the ball into the bucket.
  • The person who gets the most balls into the box or bucket is the winner!
  • To make things even harder, use your other hand to toss with.
  • Bucket or Cardboard box
