New Year's Eve celebration
Enjoy family-friendly activities, live entertainment, food trucks, a skating/dance party and fireworks at Prince’s Island Park and Lot 59 starting at 8 p.m.
Park close to the celebration and fireworks with free event parking on the south side of Memorial Dr. N.W. (eastbound) between 10th St. N.W. and 4A St. N.W. from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.
How to watch the fireworks
Ring in 2025 with midnight fireworks. This spectacular display will be synchronized to music by Canadian artists on CJSW 90.9 FM.
Watch the midnight fireworks in person from Prince’s Island Park or Lot 59. You can also enjoy the show at home by watching our livestream starting at 11:55 p.m. for a blessing from Indigenous Elder Clarence Wolfleg, followed by a countdown to midnight with Mayor Jyoti Gondek.
Getting around on New Year’s Eve
Event and firework parking
On Dec. 31, 2024 before 6 p.m., regular rates will be in effect in on-street ParkPlus zones, in all Calgary Parking parkades and surface lots. Parking will be free after 6 p.m. in all on-street ParkPlus zones.
The best locations to park close to the New Year’s Eve celebration are:
- Free event parking on the south side of Memorial Dr. N.W. (eastbound) between 10th St. N.W. and 4A St. N.W. from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Over 345 parking spots will be available.
- Harmony Parkade (Lot 40) - 112 5 Avenue S.W. (Accessible parking)
- $3 max rate after 6 p.m.
- Lot 71 (Downtown) - 603 3 Avenue S.W.
- $3 max rate after 6 p.m.
- Lot 888 (Chinatown) - 109 Riverfront Avenue S.E. (Accessible parking)
- $4 max rate after 6 p.m.
- Lot 26 (Chinatown) - 307 1 Street S.E.
- $4 max rate after 6 p.m.
Memorial Drive road closure
For pedestrian and traffic safety, Memorial Dr. N.W. (eastbound and westbound) from 10th St N.W. and 4th St N.E. will be closed from 7 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2024 to 2 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2025.
Crescent Road no stopping zone
For pedestrian and traffic safety, Crescent Rd. N.W. from 7a St. N.W. to Centre A St. N.W. will have a no stopping zone from 7 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2024 to 2 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2025. Calgary Parking will be on-site to support community access and will be actively ticketing and towing illegally parked vehicles in the community.
Calgary Transit
To help you get home safely on New Year’s Eve, Calgary Transit will have free service, thanks to a generous sponsorship from J.P. Wiser’s. Extended service hours will be available:
- The CTrain will run until 4 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2025.
- Bus routes 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 22, 301, 302, and MAX Orange, MAX Yellow, MAX Teal and MAX Purple will run until 3 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2025.
