With public school classes cancelled across Alberta due to the teachers’ strike, The City of Calgary and its partners are stepping up to support families with a wide range of programs and activities for children. 

From day camps to creative workshops, these offerings help keep kids engaged, active, and learning in safe, enriching environments. We encourage families to explore these options and find programs that best suit their needs.

City of Calgary programs

To give children and youth safe, engaging opportunities during this time, The City is expanding recreation programming and public swimming starting October 6.

  • Rec Adventures Day Camps (ages 5–12): Our camps include sports, games, arts & crafts, play structures and exploring local parks. Register for school disruption day camps
  • Public Swim: Additional swim times posted at calgary.ca/pools.
  • Existing Programs: All current bookings, including Calgary AfterSchool, continue as planned.
