Day camps and activities
To give children and youth safe, engaging opportunities during this time, The City is expanding recreation programming and public swimming starting October 6.
- Day camps (ages 5 - 12): Locations include Southland and Village Square Leisure Centres, Calgary Soccer Centre and Wildflower and North Mount Pleasant Arts Centres. Register for school disruption day camps
- Park n’ Play (ages 6 - 12): This free drop-off program is being offered in Abbeydale, Dover, Glenbrook and Ranchlands. Learn more
- Calgary AfterSchool (ages 6 - 17): All City-operated and most partner-operated AfterSchool programs continue to run as planned. Find detailed schedules at calgary.ca/AfterSchool
- Public swimming: Additional swim times posted at calgary.ca/pools
- Existing programs: All current bookings continue as planned.
Youth Employment Centre
With public school classes cancelled across Alberta due to the ongoing teachers’ strike, The City of Calgary Youth Employment Centre is offering free in-person employment workshops for youth ages 14–24. Learn more here.

Our partner organizations are stepping up! There are many options available to provide programming for children during the disruption in Calgary's education. Check out the following for programs that fit best for your children.

3-Hour Registered Programs (ages 6–9): Morning and afternoon blocks with lunch supervision if attending both.
Youth Drop-In Access (ages 10–17): Supervised access to youth rooms, pools, and fitness areas (10 a.m.–4 p.m.).
