Sunalta applications and Area Redevelopment Plan amendments

Latest News

The City of Calgary hosted an information session on June 26, 2018 for two separate land use redesignation applications in Sunalta. The What We Heard reports for each application will be available in the coming weeks. Please visit the project pages to view the reports once they are ready: 17 Project and Housing One.

Overview

Currently, there are two land use redesignation applications in Sunalta that would require policy amendments to the Sunalta Area Redevelopment Plan (ARP). A land use redesignation, or land use amendment, is an application to change the land use district (zone) of a property to allow for a particular development that is currently not allowed.

The two applications for this area that would require amendments to the ARP are:

  • 17 Project, a mixed-use development proposed for the northwest corner of 17th Ave. S.W. and 14th St. S.W.
  • Housing One, a mixed-use development proposed for the north side of 10th Ave S.W., near the intersection with 14th St. S.W.

Proposed ARP amendments

An ARP is a long-range planning document that provides a vision for the community and guides future land use decisions by promoting sustainable development.

For both projects, the ARP review will look at the scale of intensification, how it aligns with existing policy and what the impacts of the proposed changes would be on adjacent properties, as well as the community as a whole.

Please visit the project pages for 17 Project and Housing One for more details, timelines and next steps.
