Coordinated Safety Response Team

The Coordinated Safety Response Team (CSRT) Investigates public safety issues arising from vacant or derelict homes or commercial buildings and provides a coordinated approach to identifying potentially unsafe living conditions at rental properties in the city through a joint initiative with Alberta Health Services' Safe Housing Inspection program (SHIP).

Members of the CSRT include:

Dealing with problem properties

The Community Safety Response Team (CSRT) deals with problem properties throughout the City. It’s a multi-agency Team that tackles issues from outside of the property as well as the inside. The Team makes sure that if concerns are brought forward from neighouring callers, they are addressed. The Team addresses unauthorized access into vacant properties by proactively checking on these properties or by receiving 311 complaints. Safety Codes and Calgary Fire are the primary partners we use when it comes to securing the property if unauthorized access is witnessed. The majority of property owners proactively secure their properties once notified of the breach and work with the CSRT to address other concerns.
