Our contractor, Aecon, will complete the project in four stages, with daytime concrete work and nighttime asphalt milling and paving. The project will also include expanding transit pads along 36 Street N.E.
Phase 1: 16 Avenue to 20 Avenue N.E.
- Phase 1 will be completed before starting any of the other phases
Phase 2: 20 Avenue to 26 Avenue N.E.
- Access to the Rundle C-Train station will remain open during construction
Phase 3: 26 Avenue to 32 Avenue N.E.
- Access to Peter Lougheed Centre will remain open at all times
Phase 4: 32 Avenue to 39 Avenue N.E.
- Will include a multi-use pathway connection on 35 Avenue N.E.
- Access to the Whitehorn C-Train station will remain open during construction
Note: Road construction timelines are dependent on several factors (e.g. weather, site conditions, materials availability) and are subject to change.
About the project
As part of a continuing program of major road restoration, The City is planning to complete pavement rehabilitation along 36 Street N.E. Multiple sections of the busy roadway show have reached the end of their lifecyle and have affected pavement performance.
This project will improve roadway operation and surface characteristics to help to ensure the road continues to be safe, functional and in great condition for years to come. These upgrades will bring the road up to modern standards, improve traffic flow, enhance safety and pavement performance while improving connections for pedestrians and cyclists.
Budget
The construction budget for this project is $6 million.
