Ticket2Play

Rewarding our youth for making Calgary a great place to live.

Ticket2Play is a Positive Ticket partnership between The City's Calgary Recreation business unit, the Calgary Police Service, and Calgary Fire and Calgary Community Standards.

As part of the program, Calgary police officers, firefighters and community peace officers have the opportunity to award a Ticket2Play to children and youth who:

  • Are following safety guidelines (i.e. wearing a bike helmet or practicing proper fire safety)
  • Are positively contributing to their community (i.e. by being a good neighbour)
  • Display a positive attitude in interactions with Calgarians

Each Ticket2Play includes two free admissions (1 for the youth and a 2nd for a parent/guardian or a friend) to City of Calgary indoor pools, fitness and Leisure Centres as well as arenas. Tickets can also be redeemed at VIVO.

Ticket2Play provides Calgary Recreation, the Calgary Police Service, Calgary Fire and Calgary Community Standards with the opportunity to work together to create city wide connections with children and youth.

The program aligns with the Mayor and Council's direction for community action on mental health, addiction and crime prevention. By increasing positive relationships and interactions between uniformed officers and children and youth, The City is demonstrating that law enforcement can be a helpful influence in the lives of young people.

Through its rewards, the program also encourages active participation in recreation.

As a cornerstone of building complete communities, recreation has a direct impact on the health, safety, quality of life and well-being of Calgary's children and youth. According to ParticipACTION, only 9 per cent of 5-17 year olds get the recommended 60 minutes of heart-pumping activity they need each day.

Together, Calgary Recreation, the Calgary Police Service, Calgary Fire and Calgary Community Standards are aiming to collectively reward our young Calgarians for making Calgary a great place to live and a great place to make a life.
