Vehicle inspections
All vehicles (taxi, limousine, and rideshare) entering the vehicle for hire industry require an inspection and a new inspection is required yearly. The inspection requirements are listed within the Livery Transport Bylaw 20M2021 – Enhanced Livery Vehicle Inspection Standards (ELVIS).
Inspections for taxis and limousines are completed at any Vehicle for Hire licensed inspection station. The form must be submitted to the Vehicle for Hire Office and must be dated within 14 days.
As part of the application for a Transportation Network Driver’s Licence, proof of a Government of Alberta Motor Vehicle Record of Inspection, or an Enhanced Livery Vehicle Inspection Standards dated within 30 days of application is required.
Obtain the inspection by booking an appointment at any Vehicle for Hire licensed inspection station or garage licensed by the Province of Alberta. An inspection fee may be charged.
