How to send a compliment
Every day, City employees work across Calgary to keep our city safe, clean, and running smoothly. Your thanks helps us highlight the real impact employees have in our communities.
If a City employee helped you, showed kindness, or solved a problem, we want to hear about it. Your message helps us recognize their work and encourages a culture of service and care.
Use the 311 portal to share:
- A compliment or thank‑you message
- The employee’s name, if you know it
- Where and when the interaction happened
- What they did that stood out to you
We will pass your message to the employee and their supervisor.

Here are a few examples of recent compliments we have received.
First off, all the staff at the Shawnessy fair entry location were very helpful and answered our questions patiently. But I would also like to specifically highlight our interaction with Olga, as she was especially helpful. Based on what we saw, others were similarly impressed by her service, and I just wanted to make sure she was recognized!
Sometime last week a few trees were planted in the park near our home, and I just wanted to do a shout out and say how awesome it is! I’ve been hoping for more trees in the park for years, and I’m so so so happy it was done. It looks great. Thank you so much!
Our recycling truck driver is an absolute gem of a human. He has been driving our route since we moved in 8’ish years ago and has always been kind and courteous. He even shared some cool projects with my son, like colouring books and a recycling truck you build out of cardboard. Plus he always has a smile and a wave when we are outside to greet him. He is the best!
