The Advanced Traveller Information System (ATIS) is a web-based traffic management system. It provides the public with information on detours and lane closures, road conditions and camera images.

The purpose of ATIS is to collect and send out information that helps travellers decide the best way to travel safely and efficiently.

Traffic cameras

Images from Calgary traffic cameras can be seen by the public. They are fed to the ATIS website for viewing 24 hours a day.

The main purpose of the 100+ traffic cameras is to monitor traffic flow, road and weather conditions. They also look for incidents on Calgary roads that are impacting traffic.

The cameras are not used for enforcement purposes by Calgary Police services. Images are not recorded unless a traffic study is being conducted or a major construction project is being monitored.

No personal information, such as license plate numbers or occupant faces, is recorded by the camera system.
