Project update – October 27, 2023

The two Plus 15 bridges that were closed for rehabilitation work are now reopened:

  • The first bridge connects 715 5 Avenue, 700 Sixth Avenue, Pacific Parkade, Chateau Apartments, and 736 Sixth Avenue Building over the laneway.
  • The second bridge connects 700 Sixth Avenue and Chateau Apartments to Standard Life 639 Fifth Avenue over 6 Street S.W., between 5 Avenue S.W. and 6 Avenue S.W.

Remaining roof work will take place during the first week of November, weather permitting. The bridges will remain open during this time and Plus 15 users will not be impacted.

The bridges are reopened four weeks earlier than originally anticipated. To further reduce impacts to businesses and Plus 15 users, the team was able to accelerate construction. We thank all Plus 15 users and tenants for their patience as we completed this important rehabilitation work.

Project overview

From July to October, rehabilitation work was done on two Plus 15 bridges. The first bridge is located over the laneway between 5 Avenue S.W. and 6 Avenue S.W. The second bridge continues over 6 Street S.W. between 5 Avenue S.W. and 6 Avenue S.W.

Improvements include:

  • roof replacement
  • replacement of skylights
  • mechanical unit replacement
  • lighting replacement
  • interior finishes (including new flooring and paint)
  • accessibility improvements
  • resealing of all windows within scope

The Plus 15 infrastructure is aging and require renovations to ensure they remain safe and in good condition. These projects prolong the life of the Plus 15 structures so they can be used in years to come.
