New Rocky Ridge Athletic Park | Opens for Bookings

Residents in and around Ward 2 will soon have a new nearby destination for soccer, sports and recreation.

Rocky Ridge Athletic Park opens for bookings on September 24, 2026, adding two new artificial-turf fields to Calgary’s athletic park network. Although the park is located just outside Ward 2, its proximity makes it a valuable recreational resource for many Ward 2 residents, families, teams and community organizations.

The new park includes:

• Two artificial-turf athletic fields.
• Field lighting.
• Washrooms.
• Parking.
• Spectator seating.

The addition brings Calgary’s athletic park network to 15 parks with 31 soccer fields across the city. It will provide more flexibility for managing field use, supporting field recovery and creating additional opportunities for people to play, train and compete in northwest Calgary.

Bookings begin September 24

During the initial fall launch, the park will operate with limited hours, weather permitting. From September 24 to October 29, fields will be available for booking:

• Thursdays: 5 to 10 p.m.
• Saturdays: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Only full-field bookings will be available during the 2026 season. Fields can be booked through The City’s existing booking system and allocation process, which is intended to provide consistent and fair access for user groups.

While the fields are designed primarily for soccer, they may be booked by a variety of groups. This creates opportunities for different sports organizations, teams and community users to make use of the new facility.

A resource for Ward 2 communities

Recreation facilities do not stop at ward boundaries. This new park will play an important role in the lives of our residents particularly for families and organizations in communities in Northwest Calgary.

The new athletic park may help local teams find additional space for practices, games and training, while giving residents more options to participate in sport close to home. Its lighting, parking, washrooms and spectator seating are also designed to support a practical and welcoming experience for participants and families.

Interest may exceed the initial booking hours. The City will monitor demand, weather and operational requirements, with the potential to add additional booking times.

Part of a larger recreation vision

Rocky Ridge Athletic Park is part of the larger Rocky Ridge Athletic Complex. A proposed fieldhouse has been identified as a Wave 1 priority in GamePLAN and will be considered through the 2027–2030 Service Plans and Budgets process.

If approved and built, the fieldhouse and athletic park could form a year-round recreation hub in northwest Calgary, expanding access to sport, recreation and community gathering spaces.

The City will also evaluate the fall launch to help inform operating plans and service delivery for the 2027 season.
