Roadway Improvements Coming to Nose Hill Drive NW
If you’ve ever hit a pothole on Nose Hill Drive and worried about your tires—or had to swerve to avoid cracked pavement—you’re not alone. Starting later this month, the City will begin road and concrete repairs along Nose Hill Drive to make this important corridor safer and smoother for everyone.
The project will cover two major sections along Nose Hill Drive:
- Between Country Hills Blvd to Hawkwood Rd NW
- Between 87 St NW to Silver Springs Rd NW
These upgrades include replacing damaged concrete, repaving the asphalt, and improving long-term drainage. That means fewer future potholes, a quieter and smoother drive, and less wear and tear on your vehicle.
What You Can Expect:
- Concrete repairs will happen during the day during off-peak traffic hours (9 a.m. – 3 p.m.)
- Asphalt paving will take place overnight (9 p.m. – 5 a.m.)
- There will be lane closures and pedestrian detours, and the surface may be uneven while work is underway.
- Transit routes will remain active, but you may want to double-check your route at calgarytransit.com just in case.
General Road Repair Information:
- Concrete Repair: Removal and replacement of existing damaged concrete.
- Paving: Milling the existing asphalt surface and laying new asphalt. New pavement can take up to three hours to cool, and traffic restrictions will remain until this is completed.
- Road Markings: Temporary road markings will be in place until permanent markings can be completed.
- Regular project updates, including anticipated start and end timelines, will be available online at calgary.ca/paving to keep you informed about our progress and any schedule changes.
The contractor, Volker Stevin, is aiming to complete work by the end of September, weather permitting.
I’ll continue pushing for proper maintenance and responsible investment in our core infrastructure. You can track updates and changes to this project at calgary.ca/paving.
Thanks for your patience as we work to keep our roads safe and drivable.
