Ready Squad
Ready Squad is a youth focused emergency preparedness program. It teaches kids about the types of emergencies that can occur in Calgary and how to prepare for them. This type of training empowers kids to be more resilient and knowledgeable in an emergency.

The Ready Squad e-course is designed for kids aged 7 to 12. It’s a fun and interactive way to teach kids how to prepare for and stay safe during emergencies.
- Cost: Free
- Course duration approximately 20 minutes
- Compatible with desktop, smartphone or tablet
- After completing the e-course, participants will be able to print off a certificate

Junior weather forecasters challenge
Learn about local weather phenomena by participating in the Junior Weather Forecasters Challenge! This free, guided activity teaches youth about local weather phenomena to further prepare them for weather hazards! Learners build and test 5 weather station instruments with everyday supplies: barometer, wind vane, snow gauge, precipitation gauge, and anemometer.

This free activity helps youth map out evacuation routes from important places like their home or classroom, helping them know what to do in an emergency.

Emergency action plan
Creating an emergency action plan for your household can help your family know what to do, who to contact, and which essential supplies and documents to have ready in an emergency. It’s important to involve all family members in both the planning and practice of your household’s emergency plan.

The Community Preparedness Team offers free 30 to 60 minute classroom presentations that cover emergency risks in Calgary, and how to prepare, respond to, and recover from emergencies.

The Community Preparedness Team offers free summer school and extracurricular programming for youth, including interactive activities and presentations focused on emergency preparedness and weather awareness. Programming schedules vary but typically run throughout the summer.
