Benefits of taking our afro dance style classes
Learning Afro dance styles will help you move your body to its full potential and build your balance, strength, coordination and flexibility.
You will develop your body awareness by learning a variety of body isolations and exploring self-expression and attitude in your dancing.
African dance forms are diverse with unique cultural values and personal expression. By immersing yourself in dance, you can begin to feel more present in the moment and leave your worries behind.

Fall registration dates

Age: 13 - 17 years

About our dance instructors
Our instructors are practicing artists that have formal dance training and teaching experience. They offer their expertise in the classroom and enjoy working with people of all ages and abilities.
Our instructors ensure that classes are always fresh and engaging for new and returning participants. They adapt to students' needs and encourage them to develop new skills and express themselves through movement.

What are afro dance styles classes like?
Classes will begin with warm-up activities and explore a diverse range of traditional and urban dance styles from West, Central and East Africa. Classes will include learning the history and socio-cultural relevance of each dance style with an emphasis on understanding traditional rhythms and contemporary Afrobeats.
You will learn from expert dance instructors in an inclusive, fun and positive atmosphere. Classes prioritize skill building and joyful self-expression in a non-competitive environment. Instructors will modify techniques as necessary to ensure all students are participating to the best of their ability.
