Project update – September 2025

The traffic signals on Anderson Road S.E. have all been replaced, and most of the concrete work is now done. Crews have also finished about 90 per cent of the pavement milling and 90 per cent of the asphalt base layer.

The eastbound widening is making good progress too. The new third lane east of Acadia Drive is complete, and crews have started excavation work between Bonaventure Drive and Acadia Drive.

The Anderson Road S.E. paving project includes fixing the road surface, as well as replacing sidewalks and wheelchair ramps. These improvements will make the area safer and easier to use for people walking, biking, or using mobility aids.

Traffic and community impacts

We know construction can be inconvenient. We are doing our best to reduce the impact on your community.

  • Lane closures: At least one or two lanes will stay open. Watch for road signs.
    • Lane closures will happen during the day and at night. We will let you know ahead of time.
  • Work hours:
    • Concrete work: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weekdays and weekends
    • Paving: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on weekdays; 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. on weekends
  • Noise and vibrations: You may hear or feel construction, but we’ll try to keep it minimal.
  • Transit: Transit along Anderson Rd S.E. may be impacted by ramp closures. Check calgarytransit.com for updates.

About the project

This work is part of Calgary’s 2025 Annual Paving Program and includes improvements along Anderson Rd S.E., from Deerfoot Trail to Macleod Trail.

The construction budget for Anderson Road S.E. paving project is $7.7 million.

We are:

  • Adding a third eastbound lane
  • Repaving the road
  • Fixing sidewalks, curbs, and wheelchair ramps
  • Updating traffic lights at Bonaventure and Acadia Drive
  • Putting up new overhead signs

These upgrades will make the road last longer, improve safety, and make it easier for everyone to get around.
