Traffic Tuesdays Making Calgarians smile and be safe one message at a time
Every Tuesday a new safety message is displayed on select Calgary roadways. Enter your sign message in the form below to reach thousands of Calgarians and make their day.
You may have noticed a different type of message being communicated on a few of our Electronic Message Boards (EMB) and Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) on major roadways throughout Calgary.
Major cities across North America have been adopting funny and topical traffic safety messaging to help reduce the number of fatalities on their roads. In May of 2021, The City of Calgary introduced a similar program named Traffic Tuesday. Every Tuesday we post a humorous or topical traffic safety message on a few Electronic Message Boards or Dynamic Message Signs and hope to put a smile on your face during your commute. We aim to make traffic safety messages more memorable and help drivers to change their mindset, resulting in safer Calgary roads for everyone.
Tuesday with a twist
A select few Electronic Message Boards and Dynamic Message Signs will display Traffic Tuesday every Tuesday of the month. The majority of EMB and DMS signs along the way will continue to highlight important information that you’re used to seeing, like traffic tie-ups, congestion and advise on alternate routes when there are major delays or road closures.
Look out for fun traffic safety messages every Tuesday. Let’s keep Calgary safe and smiling.
Want to get involved?
Have some great ideas for messages to share? You can submit fun safety messages of your own for consideration. Brighten up someone’s day with your own funny safety or topical message.
Remember to keep your message appropriate for younger passengers who may also be giggling in the back seat.
