Short term rentals

Calgary City Council is considering a change to the Business Licensing Bylaw. The change would enact regulations, and require a license for short-term rentals.

The proposed definition of short term rental:

  • Provides temporary accommodation for a compensation.
  • Is located in a dwelling unit or portion of a dwelling unit.
  • Lasts for periods of up to 30 consecutive days.

Bed and breakfasts with a permit (Land Use Bylaw 1P2007), are not classified as short term rentals.
