As September comes to a close, we find ourselves settling back into the rhythm of school and work, accompanied by the crisp air of autumn. Over the past month, my office has been busy in the community, attending groundbreakings, ribbon cuttings and even the swearing-in ceremony of a certain dog park mayor. While I don't speak for what safety looks like for you and your family, Ward 2 continues to trend safer than Calgary as a whole, with property crime down 17% and violent crime down 31% from January to August 2026 compared to the same period in 2025. Citywide, property crime rose 2% while violent crime fell 7%.

Today marked an important milestone for northwest Calgary. At Symons Valley Centre (251 Sage Hill Boulevard N.W.), we gathered with project partners, Calgary Public Library, construction teams, and community members to celebrate real, visible progress on a new 15,000-square-foot public library and community commons.

The City of Calgary has public Council and Committee meetings where city business is discussed. There are a number of meetings each week and many are open to the public for viewing as well as for Calgarians to speak about items on the agenda they are concerned about.
