Job Responsibilties

The instructor is responsible for conducting and developing program and lesson plans for fitness instruction at all levels. 

They also ensure compliance with safety procedures and deal with patrons' questions and concerns.

Level 2 Fitness Instructors must have at least 3 years of leadership and instructional experience.

We offer a wide range of classes for all levels and ages. Here is a partial list of classes you could be teaching: 

  • Yoga and Pilates

  • Cardio & Strength
  • Martial Arts
  • Parent and Baby
  • HIIT
  • Gentle Fitness
  • Cycle
  • Adaptive Fitness 

Required courses and certifications

AFLCA Fitness Theory course


  • Current Alberta Fitness Leadership Certification Association (AFLCA) or equivalent group exercise certification (e.g. YMCA, CanFitPro, etc) is required.

  • Certification in one of the following is required: Older Adults, Strength Training, Cycling, Pre & Post Natal, and Zumba.

Aquatic Fitness Instructor


  • Current Aquatic Exercise certification from the Alberta Fitness Leadership Certification Association (AFLCA), Canadian Aquafitness Leaders Alliance (CALA), or an equivalent group exercise certification.

  • Level 2 Fitness Instructors must have at least 3 years of leadership and instructional experience.

CPR/First Aid


  • Current Intermediate First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) level "C" certification
  • Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification

Position Type: On-call

Hours of work: On-call hours based on operational requirements

Application process

We regularly recruit instructors, with major seasonal hires taking place in January, June and September.

You will be required to provide the following:

  1. A current resume
  2. Original and current documentation of your certification (AFLCA or equivalent):
  3. Current CPR Level C and Intermediate First Aid documentation.
