Reminder notices

If the annual property tax bill is not paid by the due date, a property tax reminder notice will be mailed to advise the property owner of the outstanding tax balance, including any accrued penalties. Non-receipt of your property tax bill does not exempt you from late payment penalties.

What can I provide to prove I paid on time?​

If you believe your payment was made by the due date, please provide receipt/documentation showing the payment date along with the location address and/or property tax roll number.

Accepted proof that payment was made by the due date is:

  • Copy of receipt, if payment was made at an ATM.
  • Copy of your bank transaction receipt, if payment was made to a bank teller.
  • Copy of your bank statement showing the payment date and amount.

Be sure to remove all sensitive information, i.e. your bank account number and bank account balance from your receipts or bank statements.

I paid, why isn’t it showing on my account?

If your payment does not appear on your property tax account, please request documentation from your bank indicating the date, amount and property tax roll number associated with your payment. Submit the documentation from your bank, along with the location address and/or property tax roll number.

Secure Online Form: Scan and upload a PDF or JPG file (maximum 2 MB) of your payment documentation.

NOTE – When you have successfully submitted your payment documentation, the screen will display a success message.  Print this screen for your records.  You will not receive an email confirmation.​

Limited access with physical distancing measures
There is limited access to the Municipal Building and we’re practicing physical distancing measures. You’re encouraged to use an alternative that is not in person.

For those who must attend in person, there is limited access to the Municipal building. Citizens will be directed to one of two doors where security staff will help direct them. Due to physical distancing measures there may be delays as we’re limiting the amount of people in the building at one time.

Late payment

If payment was not made by the due date, the late payment penalty is valid and payment is required. Penalties are cancelled only if payment is late due to City error. Penalties are applied in accordance with Penalty Bylaw 8M2002.

If you believe your taxes were to have been paid by your mortgage company via PIT (principal, interest and taxes), contact your mortgage company. If they are no longer responsible to pay your tax you become responsible to make payment on or before the due date. The late payment penalty will not be waived.

Paying your reminder notice and avoiding further penalty

In order to avoid further penalties, payment must be made in accordance with the penalty bylaw. For payment options, please see the back of the notice or Property Tax Payment.

To avoid late payment problems in the future, consider joining the Tax Instalment Payment Plan (TIPP).​
