Questions you can ask at a job interview

Always prepare one or two questions to ask. 

Not having any questions prepared may indicate to the interviewers that you are not an independent thinker. Of course, some of your questions may be answered during the course of the interview, so simply state that you were interested in knowing about – provide the issue you were interested in – but it has already been addressed. 

If you still need further clarification, then ask for additional information specific to that issue.

Example questions:

  1. Could you explain your business unit structure?
  2. How will my duties/responsibilities and performance be measured? Who will review my performance? How often?
  3. What are some of the skills and abilities necessary for someone to succeed in this job?
  4. What is the company's policy on providing seminars, workshops, and training so employees can keep current with their skills or acquire new ones?
  5. What are the prospects for growth, advancement and opportunities in this business unit?
  6. What do you like about working at The City?
