2026 Budget Toolkit
Welcome to the Ward 8 Budget Toolkit
Below you will find a breakdown of all the information you need to stay informed about the City's budgeting process, participate in budget hearings, and watch live at your convenience.
2025 is the last year of our current four-year budget cycle. This means that City Council will be making adjustments to the full budget set by the previous City Council and is not a new budget.
This is not a new budget, it is a final review of the progress we've made over the last four years.
Adjustments provide City Council an opportunity to review our financial health, property tax rates, and success of the priorities set at the beginning of the budget cycle.
Key areas
- Operating Budget - programs and services like police, fire, public transit, roads, parks, and other services the City provides to Calgarians
- Capital Budget - projects that deliver services to Calgarians like police and fire stations, C-train stations, busses, roads, water treatment, recreation centres, libraries, and affordable housing
- Reserves - money set aside to fund future operating and capital expenses, one-time projects, budget shortfalls, and emergencies
