610 energy efficient priority-stream homes

Target to be defined

Target to be defined

While a target is yet to be defined for this metric, this program is performing well based on initial expectations to have two projects approved by 2024.

The Green Buildings Priority Stream is a voluntary program designed to encourage energy efficient buildings by:

  1. Providing a full-service, streamlined process for Development and Building Permit approvals.
  2. Recognizing and celebrating projects and builders committed to high-performance building construction.
  3. Promoting leaders in innovative and energy efficient building design.

In 2022, there were 87 dwelling units approved under this program from one project.

In 2023, there are currently two development projects under review, and another four pending submission. In total, this represents approximately 600 dwelling units.

The Green Buildings Priority Stream accelerates new development approvals for:

  • Multi-unit residential, commercial, and mixed-used buildings;
  • Industrial buildings; and
  • Institutional buildings.

In the future, the program may be expanded to include deep energy retrofits to existing buildings and high-performance infill homes.
