Explore downtown with these family-friendly itineraries.

Playgrounds galore

For the family that loves to explore playgrounds, there’s three great locations downtown, all within walking distance you need to check out!

Make your way downtown to the Crossroads Playground in East Village. There’s plenty of street parking or a lot nearby. Grab a cup of coffee and warm croissant, and put your feet up while the kids play.

Next, take a stroll to St. Patrick’s Island where you’ll find a fishing cove, naturalized wetlands, wooded areas with pathways and a hill that offers some of the best views of the city.

If the kids still have energy, follow the pathway to one last playground near the Zoo West Parking Lot. 

Urban explorers

Pack your backpacks and get ready for a day of exploring!

First stop, Devonian Gardens, an urban oasis in the heart of Calgary. There’s so much to see and do including a living wall, fountains, fish ponds and a playground.

Next up, the iconic Calgary Tower. Make your way up to the top floor and experience the stunning views of our incredible city. If you’re hungry, be sure to stop at Sky 360 and enjoy Calgary’s very own revolving restaurant.

Finally, head over to the Central Library where you can uncover four floors of book bliss! The library also offers events and programs for every age and interest year-round – be sure to check out their events page for more information.
