Rediscover Downtown Parks

Parks are welcoming public spaces intended for everyone to enjoy. This summer, The City and partners are working together testing out different ways to increase the vibrancy of three downtown parks: Century Gardens, Harmony Park and Olympic Plaza.

Events and activities

  • Calgary Downtown Association is supporting local business and groups to host almost 50 events in the target parks. These range from family activities, concerts and more.
  • Each park has a colourful PlayBin filled with games, recreation equipment and fun activities that can be used by the public. Learn how to unlock the PlayBin here.
  • Learn about Indigenous cultures or connect to your Indigenous culture. Tipis and a Métis Trapper Tent will be temporarily set up in various downtown parks.

Beautification

  • Flowers during summer months
  • Art features, such as murals, are being considered
  • The Downtown Washroom Attendant Pilot Program aims to ensure washrooms at Century Gardens and Olympic Plaza are clean and tidy

City Services and partners at the park

Look for more supports in downtown parks including officers wanting to connect with the community, Alberta Health Services providing creative mental health suggestions and other partners providing supportive resources to the public.
