Working with Government

Prairie Economic Gateway Working with other orders of Government

Following the signing of the Prairie Economic Gateway Agreement, work has begun to secure funding from other orders of government, as well as to find partnership opportunities to promote provincial and national priorities.

In March 2025, The City of Calgary and Rocky View County signed an early-stage Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Canada Infrastructure Bank to explore an investment partnership. The Prairie Economic Gateway’s working group will conduct additional feasibility assessments to complete the evaluation of the project’s technical and financial viability as a potential candidate for future financial support.

Opportunities for Provincial Partnership

  • Expediting Designated Industrial Zone (DIZ) status establishment.
  • Streamlining regulatory processes for water and transportation infrastructure.
  • Unlocking private investment with existing provincial funding such as the Strategic Transportation Infrastructure Program, the Local Growth and Sustainability Grant, and the Municipal Water/Wastewater Partnership.
  • Promoting the Gateway nationally and internationally while promoting collaboration on corridor agreements.

Opportunities for Federal Partnership

  • Investing in infrastructure to grow our communities through federal resources such as the Canada Community Building Fund, Trade Economic Corridors Fund and the Public Transit Fund.
  • Boosting growth through national regulatory alignment and one Canadian economy.
  • Establishing new Economic and Security relationships and protecting Canadian sovereignty.
  • Streamlining regulatory processes for Gateway-related infrastructure.
