The City of Calgary offers rain barrel rebates to help residents collect rainwater and use it for outdoor watering. A rain barrel is a simple watering container that connects to your downspout and stores rainwater for use in your yard or garden.

This rebate makes it easier and more affordable to add a Calgary rain barrel to your home.

You can receive $50 back for each eligible rain barrel you purchase.

• Rebate amount: $50 per rain barrel
• Maximum: up to 3 rain barrels per household
• Eligible items: The rebate applies to the rain barrel container only
• What’s not included: Accessories like stands, hoses or diverters are not included
• Program period: April 1 to Oct. 31, 2026, or until funding runs out
• Availability: Rebates are available on a first‑come, first‑served basis
• Product requirements: Rain barrels can be any size, as long as they are new and meet program rules

To qualify for the rain barrel rebate, you must:

• Live within the City of Calgary
• Use the rain barrel at your home address
• Buy a new rain barrel (not second‑hand)
• Have an itemized receipt showing the rain barrel purchase
• Submit your application within 12 months of the purchase date
  • If you submit your rebate application on April 1, 2026, your receipt must be dated April 1, 2025 or newer.
  • If you submit your rebate application on July 15, 2026, your receipt must be dated July 15, 2025 or newer.
• Stay within the limit of three rebates per household
