Business Improvement Areas funding

The below table shows the budget for Business Improvement Areas (BIAs) for the current year.

A BIA is established by businesses in an area to jointly raise and administer funds for various projects and promotional activities. BIA annual budgets are typically approved by Council in January. Businesses located in a BIA will then receive a BIA tax bill in February each year. BIAs are self-funded. The Business Improvement Area Tax is collected by The City of Calgary on behalf of the BIA and a cheque is typically issued to the BIA prior to the end of Quarter 1.
