Councillor Sharp's amendment to winding down the Green Line project
Defeated by Council on September 17, 2024
Councillor Sharp voted in favour
Councillor Sharp proposed an amendment to pause the wind-down process and collaborate with the Government of Alberta to complete the Green Line LRT with a working group, but it was defeated 9-6.
However, Council approved the working group portion of the alternate recommendation in a motion arising following the wind down vote.
She believes winding down the project is not financially or reputationally responsible and hopes it can be revived with support from the Province and other funding partners.

Green Line Phase 1 Alignment; Building the Core
Passed by Council on July 30, 2024
Councillor Sharp voted against
Council heard from the Green Line board, project team, and City Administration about a revised plan called Building the Core. Unfortunately, the revised plan included a shortened line for a higher cost than the previously approved alignment. Despite this, the plan was passed with a 10-5 vote, with Councillors Sonya Sharp, Dan McLean, Jennifer Wyness, Sean Chu and Andre Chabot voting against it.
Councillor Sharp is a strong supporter of transit and the Green Line, but is disappointed in the current direction of this project.
