We had our first neighbour day party last year and it was a huge success! Everyone was thrilled! We recently had a new family move to the street and they said what sold them was when their realtor told them about our great neighbour day party!

Tips to plan a block party for neighbours on your street.

Block party
A block party permit lets you close the roadway for your event. See the Block Party Guide for more information. Applications submitted after May 31 may still be considered, but approval is not guaranteed.

Greenspace permit
Include “Neighbour Day” in your event name to get a free greenspace permit for June 21. Applications submitted after May 31 may still be considered, but approval is not guaranteed.

Seeing Calgarians celebrate Neighbour Day is an annual highlight for the Mayor and Council. Invite them to drop by and say hello at your event!
Funding your event
#YYCNeighbourDay Microgrant
Due to an overwhelming response and incredible community enthusiasm, the 2025 #YYCNeighbourDay Microgrant has now been fully subscribed! We’re thrilled to see so many Calgarians bringing their neighbourhoods together.
The #YYCNeighbourDay microgrant offers a total of $70,000 in funding to support Neighbour Day events. Registered non-profits, charities, Community Associations and Business Improvement Areas can apply for up to $2,500 to help bring their event to life. Funded events must be small-scale, free-to-attend and aim to foster community connection while promoting equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging.
If you received funding, please submit the final report by Aug 31, 2025.
