Driving range booking for schools

Our golf courses provide a welcoming environment for students to learn and improve their golf game at our Confederation Park, McCall Lake or Shaganappi Point driving ranges.

Note: Driving ranges are closed until 11 a.m. on Wednesdays.

Range specific information

Confederation Park

  • All clubs can be used at Confederation Park.
  • Students are expected to stay together, “double up” and share stalls in the designated area, for the safety and comfort of all customers.
  • The ball machine is located on the back side of the building facing the range.
  • Stalls are not reserved. The preferred school use stalls are located on the left side in the top fenced area. Drivers are not permitted in these stalls.
  • The putting green (if not being used by other golfers) may also be used.
  • Washrooms and concession items are available in the clubhouse.
  • Regular maintenance work requires the driving range to be closed each Wednesday until 11 a.m.

McCall Lake

  • All clubs can be used at McCall Lake.
  • Students are expected to stay together, “double up” and share stalls in the designated area, for the safety and comfort of all customers.
  • The ball machine is located at the driving range, east of the clubhouse across the parking lot.
  • Stalls are not reserved. Please only use available stalls and keep students together and away from away from public golfers if possible.
  • Washroom facilities are located downstairs in the clubhouse.
  • Concession items are available for purchase in the clubhouse.
  • Both a putting and a chipping green may be used, dependent upon availability.
  • Regular maintenance work requires the driving range to be closed each Wednesday until 11 a.m.

Shaganappi Point

  • Drivers are not permitted for use at Shaganappi Point. Please only bring irons to this driving range.
  • Students are expected to stay together, “double up” and share stalls in the designated area, for the safety and comfort of all customers.
  • The ball machine is located on the left side of the driving range.
  • Stalls are not reserved. The preferred school use stalls are on the right side of the driving range (pathway to the right). 
  • Washrooms access is located to the left of the main doors outside the clubhouse.
  • Concession items are available for purchase in the clubhouse.
  • Regular maintenance work requires the driving range to be closed each Wednesday until 11 a.m.

Course hours

Seasonal frost delays and/or course opening schedules may impact early morning school access for dates before May 19 or after Sep. 16.

Arriving at the driving range

Prior to arriving at the golf course please ensure students are familiar with expectations and guidelines for New Golfer information and golf etiquette videos. 

Each visit, check in with the clubhouse staff when your group arrives. 

  • Driving range stalls are accessed on a first come first serve basis.
  • There may be other schools and public users on site.
  • We ask that school groups stay together as much as possible and share stalls.
  • Please avoid National Golf Academy lesson areas and Pro only ball bins.

School bucket (approx. 50 balls) $6.00
Single range clubs (request clubs in the clubhouse) No charge

Please check in with the clubhouse to confirm your arrival. School discounts are available only when requests and payment are finalized in advance through Golf Administration. Purchases made on site are subject to standard processes.

Important information

Payment

  • Full payment for the number medium buckets requested is due the Tuesday the week before the visit via credit card over the phone.
  • Details will be provided when the request is confirmed.
  • If multiple dates are requested, payment for all will be processed the Tuesday the week before the first visit via credit card over the phone.
  • Refunds are not available for unused medium buckets.

Cancellations and refunds

  • Full cancellation, or reduction to the number of medium buckets requested (not related to weather), must be received a minimum of 24 hours in advance.
  • Email details of the cancellation to golf@calgary.ca.
  • Refunds will be processed to the credit card used to make the original payment when the cancellation/reduction is received at least 24 hours in advance. 

Weather

  • If you are unable to check-in on the day of the booking due to weather conditions, email golf@calgary.ca at least 2 hours before the start time. Please provide as much notice as possible.
  • When notification is received at least 2 hours in advance, a refund will be processed.
  • Rain checks are not available for school bookings.

Additional rules

  • Golf etiquette rules and dress code guidelines apply to the driving range as well as the golf course.
  • Golf Course staff and volunteers have the authority to deny access to any person that does not adhere to Golf Course guidelines and polices.
  • The City of Calgary Golf Courses reserves the right to revoke all school booking privileges in the event of repeated no-shows or abuse of Golf Course Operation policies.
