The South Shaganappi Communities Local Area Plan is now being implemented and will continue to guide growth and change in the Plan Area.

Foothills Multisport Fieldhouse and Athletic Park Redevelopment

The City is redeveloping Foothills Athletic Park, that includes the construction of a new multisport fieldhouse. This reimagined site will offer Calgarians year-round opportunities to play, practice and compete in a variety of sports. It will also provide Calgary with the capacity to host major sporting events, strengthening The City's commitment to active lifestyles and a vibrant sports culture.

Shaganappi Trail Transit Study

The City is launching a transit study for Shaganappi Trail aimed at improving transit service and connectivity in North Calgary, focusing on the growing area’s future mobility needs and constraints.

The study will look at the Shaganappi Trail corridor from the future Symons Valley Terminal to the Brentwood Light Rail Transit (LRT) station. This corridor provides north-south crosstown transit service to connect developing and established communities in northwest Calgary along the corridor to other Primary Transit Network and regular transit routes at Brentwood transit terminal, including Red Line LRT, 144 Avenue North BRT, and MAX Orange.

Growth and Development

The South Shaganappi Communities Local Area Plan is a living policy document that is consulted alongside the Land Use Bylaw, Municipal Development Plan and other City policies when development or redevelopment applications are made by developers, builders, or homeowners.
