South Shaganappi Communities Local Area Plan

South Shaganappi Communities Local Area Plan

The South Shaganappi Communities Local Area Plan (LAP) is a Council-approved policy document outlining the long-term vision for growth and change in the South Shaganappi area. The completed plan guides how land use, development, and public investment will shape the future of Banff Trail, Montgomery, Parkdale, Point McKay, St. Andrews Heights, University Heights, University District, University of Calgary, and Varsity.

About the plan

The South Shaganappi Communities LAP was created after more than two years of community engagement and technical review. Community members, businesses and developers helped review ideas and refine each stage of the process.

The completed South Shaganappi Communities LAP sets a clear framework for community growth and change over time. It includes policies that support complete, connected, and sustainable neighbourhoods. The plan also guides decisions about land use, mobility, and future investment so growth happens in a coordinated and thoughtful way. Its goal is to help the South Shaganappi communities move toward a shared long-term vision.
