Funding of Public Building Renovation
Funding for the renovation of the Calgary Public Building was provided by the federal, provincial and municipal governments.
City Council approved $21.2 million in 2006-08 Capital Budget funding for base building upgrades and renovation of the Public Building in line with the Council approved Sustainable Building Policy. In addition, The City applied for more than $3.8 million for the Phase 1 base building envelope renovation through the Canada Alberta Municipal Rural Infrastructure Fund (CAMRIF). CAMRIF improves and increases public infrastructure, namely water and wastewater systems, and cultural and recreation facilities.
In total, $25 million was approved to complete base building upgrades necessary to achieve improved energy and operating efficiencies.
The renovation of the Calgary Public Building was completed by Chandos Construction and Marc Boutin Architectural Collaborative Inc.
